Our small-town road trips are not about going back into time to see America the way it 'was,' namely because Montana is generally very progressive and well educated- we just do not have a lot of people. Our small towns are not about halting progress- but they are about halting the problems generally created by rapidly growing populations. In Montana you can pull up a bar stool and quickly make a new best friend- no matter where you are from. In our small towns one's word still means something and a welcoming hand will be extended to neighbors and visitors alike.

Whoop it up with a Montana rodeo short-break

Summer in Montana is rodeo time. Mid-June kicks off the season with some of the smaller town events and the season (and ticket winnings) increase as the summer progresses. For all of you city-dwellers out there, a Montana rodeo is an experience not to be missed; and a wonderful excuse to get out of dodge for a weekend.

New West Experience will do the leg work for you depending on the time of your available travel. We will sort out which rodeo to go to and will provide everything you need to enjoy Montana like a local. Cheap beer and parade hot dogs not included.

Package includes:

• 1- night at the Silver Forest Inn, best room available. 
• 3- day rental of a Subaru Outback
• 2- night rental of our 'car camping' package. Everything you need to pitch tent at a festival without having to worry about driving anywhere.

Even in Montana the fish can be moody, and the best way to maximize a fly-fishing trip in Montana is to be flexible and go where the fish are. New West Experience in partnership with Phasmid Rentals and Bozeman Rental Cars is able to provide the local expertise, cars, and gear to make an off-the-cuff trout bum tour a complete success. This is a trip for moderate to experienced anglers who are willing to be flexible with their itinerary- and to camp. Nights in motels/ hotels/ lodges can be incorporated and itineraries will change to keep up with current conditions. All of our prepared itineraries are completely custom to clients wishes and where the best fishing is. 

Sample Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Bozeman Airport, BZN. A member of the team will great you at the baggage claim and shuttle you back to headquarters. At the office, we will go over all maps, itineraries, rental gear, and rental car. Pending the time of your flight arrival, hit the grocery store for the weeks rations and catch the evening hatch on Gallatin, East Gallatin, Jefferson, or Lower Madison- all within 30-minutes of the office and airport. Camp accordingly.

Day 2: After fishing the morning rise, head north to the upper Missouri River. Fish evening hatch, camp at Craig.

Day 3: Fish Missouri, camp at Craig.

Day 4: Early fish on Missouri, head south to Divide, fish upper Big Hole in afternoon. Camp on Big Hole.

Day 5: Early fish on Big Hole, head south to Dillon and fish Beaverhead in afternoon and evening, camp on Beaverhead or Clark Canyon Reservoir.

Day 6: Morning hatch on Beaverhead, mid-afternoon travel towards Twin Bridges. Fish Ruby, lower Big Hole, Jefferson, or lower Beaverhead. Camp or stay in in hotel/ motel. 

Day 7: Depending on time of flight, fish locally or the Madison River on way back to Bozeman.

Pricing: $1,000 for 2 in a Subaru Outback, additional people $100 each. 

Upgrade to a Chevrolet Suburban + $225.

Although June often has a bit more rain then July, the wildflowers and rapidity of growth more than make up for it. Combined with approximately 70% less other tourists than in July/ August, this can make for a very special time of year. New West will prepare an itinerary of our 'special spots' (not to be revealed to the public here!) where you will enjoy solitude and scenery second to none.

Tours to be designed to guest's desires and seasonal conditions. Tour themes include; wildlife, Yellowstone, geology, fly-fishing, wild flowers, scenic driving, small town exploration, Lewis and Clark trail- or all of the above.
